FAQs

  • What is coaching?
Coaching sees the coach and coachee partner in a thought provoking and creative process to inspire coachees to maximise their potential. The coach aims to discover, clarify and align with that the coachee wants to achieve, exploring and identifying the client's intrinsic wants and needs, together formulating SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely) solutions using the GROW model (Goals, Reality, Options, Will). The coach will encourage self-discovery, elect coachee generated solutions and strategies and hold the coachee responsible and accountable in order to manifest goals.
  • What is mentoring?
Mentoring is a deliberate series of exchanges through in-depth conversation sharing knowledge and experience to develop understanding and application of the topic covered.
  • Is your coaching remote or in person?
In short: both. The majority of my sessions are currently online to cater for my international clients. If and when I run workshops in a set location I will inform my clients locally so that we can meet in person or IRL. If you need an in person session, I can of course travel to meet you, but this will be at an additional rate.
  • You don't have a background in my industry...
Bingo - I am not the subject matter expert in your field. You are. My job is not to know the intricate ins and outs of your trade, rather to be a mirror in which you can identify areas to work on. I will of course support with my own knowledge, skills and experience. A common adage is that principles of management and leadership are as applicable in the board room as they are on the battlefield (see Team of Teams) by Gen Stan McChrystal.
  • What's the first step?
Discovery Meet - Coaching and mentoring are inherently individual-centric. The first step is a 90min discovery call with me. This is a non-committal meeting of minds that will determine a way ahead.  If for whatever reason I am unable to / not best placed to support your journey, I have an excellent international network across the industry and can point you in a direction to better suit your needs.
  • What happens after the discovery session?
Initiation - If both parties decide to proceed; book your first session. As a general rule, we will book your next session at the end of the current session. This allows me to make sure that the date and time is best suited to your needs. Depending on your specific program you should initially anticipate up to 2 sessions a month to enable consistency and monitor progression.
  • When will I see results?
Just because you have rebooted the system, doesn't mean that those around you are on the same trajectory. Change takes time. You will need to practice strategic patience married with consistency to engender meaningful change in both yourself and your organisation.
  • What happens next?
Reap the tangible benefits of investing in and challenging yourself. Discover new freedoms and push the limits of your self imposed constraints. Unlock the very best version of you that can be offered to the world. Lead with confidence, communicate succinctly and face future challenges with the confidence and skillset to win.
  • What is the point in coaching?
It would be great if there was no need for coaching and mentoring in today’s world and that society was able to cultivate resilient leaders organically. The reality however, is that in a nuclear society, less and less time is available for us to sit down and explore the ‘big questions’. This manifests itself in dissatisfaction, dissolution, resentment, and a loss of focus.  Too often conversation has become a waiting game between individuals eager to assert their next point rather than listening to what is being said. Overtime, this can silence the inner voice of curiosity and dullen ambition. Coaching is a solution. The opportunity to be truly listened to and heard. To have the space and support to reach into the inner voids of your subconcious in order to unleash your potential and manifest success.
  • Can we work together again?
Whilst it is neither of our intereasts to create a dependency culture you can of course come back for more coaching in the future. I work predominantly by referral, so if you think someone is suitable and would enjoy the experience, please feel free to put them in touch for a discovery call.
  • What do I (the client) need to do?
First you must WANT to be coached. A reluctant client is a waste of both our time. Secondly, possess the bravery to speak the truth and to explore your true thoughts without caveat. Thirdly, commit to the process. No missed appointments or last minute cancellations. Fourthly, trust me as your coach. Your role is boundless exploration. My role is to make sure it remains safe. Allow me to draw the lines, you just focus on what is needed most for you. Finally, enjoy the experience. Being coached is a remarkable and life changing opportunity. Relish it and allow the impacts to change your world.
  • Isn't this just talking?
Yes - but all coaching and indeed all Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is 'talking'. Take away the word just and return the potency and potential to each conversation. I focus on the power of human connection taking years of experience in high pressure environments and high performing teams to help others reach their goals.  In a time that is increasingly congested, contested, cluttered, connected and constrained, I try to offer balance and perspective, helping clients to find and understand ‘the lion in the room’.
  • How can I book you to speak?
If you are interested in having me to speak, please shoot me an email and we can discuss which talk will best suits your requirements.
  • What is Veritas?
Veritas is the Latin for truth - a prerequisite for high performing individuals and teams. If you are brave enough to face the truth, without blinking, VHP is the right place for you.
  • What is memento mori, memento vivere?
An ancient juxtaposition meaning: Remember you must die, remember you must live. As a cancer survivor and veteran, I try to keep things in perspective. This facilitates genuine introspection with the view to create personal growth. Don't hide. Join us and unlock your true potential...
